Most people will be traveling early or mid-day on the 6th day.  As such, you probably won’t be doing much on this day.  However, if you have some time, there are always many nice things to do.

In the past 5 days, you will have seen the major attractions in Paris, but you will have by no means seen everything.  To see everything, you need two weeks to a month in Paris.

Below, I will mention a few other fun things to do, according to me. 🙂

6 Days in Paris – Day 5: Notre Dame, Musee d’Orsay, Eiffel Tower

Europe, France, Paris  Comments Off on 6 Days in Paris – Day 5: Notre Dame, Musee d’Orsay, Eiffel Tower

This will most likely be the last of the big ‘tourism’ days for you in Paris.  This will be the last full day that you have to experience everything that Paris has to offer.  As such, let’s start with the Notre Dame Cathedral; after that, we will move on to the Musee d’Orsay, a museum that is overshadowed by the Louvre but significantly more enjoyable than the Louvre (I’ll tell you why below); then, what would a trip to Paris be like if we did not go to the Eiffel Tower?!

Today will be a pleasant day that you can take at a nice slow pace after Versailles and it should leave you feeling satisfied that you have seen many of the amazing treats that Paris has to offer.

Let’s begin 🙂

Hopefully, you are rested up from yesterday!  Today will be an all-day affair that will saturate you with opulence and, most likely, too many other tourists ;).  Today, you will go to the Palace of Versailles.  Now, to avoid the tourists, you will have to get up early.

It will be worth it to see the magnificent creation that is the Palace of Versailles, which includes the main building (Palace), a garden that is better described as a controlled forest full of hidden fountains and paths, as well as the Grand Trianon, and Marie Antoinette’s Estate.

This will be an all day affair.

Day three in Paris will be a relatively relaxing day where you can really move at your own pace.  You will be seeing some sites near Montmartre and then off for a nice roof-top lunch, some shopping, and a nice evening around the Opera (or at the Opera if you buy some tickets 🙂 ).

Let’s begin this day with a nice ‘relaxing’ ride on the metro.

This is going to be a big day!  So, make sure to get a big breakfast.  A croissant and coffee will NOT do.  If you want to ‘experience culture’ then, sure, have that, but make sure to fill up on some real food (eggs, bacon, potatoes, beans if you’re from the U.K. and Ireland, etc.).  If you don’t fill-up now, you will pay a fortune to eat in or near the Louvre or really any of the attractions that you will be seeing today.

So, let us get started!

This is the first part of a 6 part series where I tell you what you should do with 6 days in Paris.  Each post will have a “What you should do:” section and a “What I am doing:” section. I have been to Paris many times and I think it will be interesting to share with you what I’m actually doing (and maybe why) and what a first-time visitor might want to do.

So, let us begin. Continue reading »

I don’t know how to start this except to say that the past week has been pretty shitty.  These are the days when you wish you had a group of good friends around to support you and help you feel better.  When you are traveling alone, you generally have no one in which to confide, no one that can or will sympathize with what you are going through, and basically no one that cares about much other than themselves and their own adventure.  This is great when you are having a good time, but quite depressing when you actually need to talk to someone.  Now, some of these moments may be those that define you as a person, but they are by no means easy or fun to go through.

So now, maybe I should elaborate a bit about what is going on with me, and has been for the last week or so. Continue reading »

Still alive after Hogmanay Edinburgh, Scotland 2012/2013

Still alive after Hogmanay Edinburgh, Scotland 2012/2013

I am still alive, but just barely, or so it feels. As you can tell by the posts, the last time I was able to make a post was after the Torchlight Procession for Hogmanay in Edinburgh, Scotland. There is a reason for this 😉 …
